Forklift Clutch Kits

Discs, pressure plates & release bearings for manual IC forklifts

ForkliftIQ Answer

A forklift clutch kit bundles the wear parts that transfer engine power to a manual gearbox: the friction (clutch) disc, the pressure plate and the release or throw-out bearing, often with a pilot bearing. It applies only to manual or mechanical-transmission IC trucks, not torque-converter or hydrostatic units. ForkliftIQ matches kits by disc size, spline count and engine or transmission model.

Replacement forklift clutch kits for manual-transmission IC forklifts running Heli, Hangcha, EP, Toyota, UN Forklift and other common drivelines. ForkliftIQ ships clutch discs, pressure plates and release bearings factory-direct from verified suppliers, with OEM cross-reference support and a fast parts quote.

What a clutch kit includes

A clutch kit groups the friction wear parts that a mechanical forklift transmission needs as a set. The clutch (friction) disc rides on the transmission input shaft splines and is the primary wear item; its facings grip the flywheel and pressure plate to drive the truck. The pressure plate, or clutch cover, clamps the disc against the flywheel and releases it when the pedal is pressed.

The release bearing — also called the throw-out bearing — pushes on the pressure plate fingers to disengage the clutch, so it is replaced alongside the disc and cover. Many kits also include a pilot bearing (or spigot bearing) that supports the input shaft nose in the flywheel, plus an alignment tool. Because these parts wear together, replacing them as one kit avoids a second teardown.

Signs of a worn clutch

The most common symptom is slipping: engine RPM rises but the truck does not gain ground speed or lift-travel drive under load, usually meaning the disc facings are worn. A hard or notchy shift, or trouble getting into gear, often points to a release bearing or worn disc that will not fully disengage.

Chatter or shudder as the clutch engages, a burning-friction smell, or a bearing whine or rumble that changes when the pedal is pressed are also classic warnings. Any of these means the driveline should be inspected before the disc wears into the rivets and scores the flywheel.

How to identify the right clutch kit

Start with the clutch disc outer diameter and the spline count and spline size on the hub bore — these must match the transmission input shaft exactly. Then confirm the engine and transmission model, since one forklift chassis can be built with different powertrains. Note whether the hub is sprung (torsion damper springs around the hub) or solid, because the two are not interchangeable.

The fastest path is the OEM part number stamped on the old cover or listed in your service manual. If it is missing, send us your forklift brand, model and serial (or VIN) plate photo, or the measured disc diameter and spline count, and we will cross-reference the correct fitment. We list parts as compatible with named brands; they are aftermarket replacements, not OEM-branded unless stated.

Compatibility & sourcing

Clutch kits apply to manual or mechanical-transmission IC forklifts. Torque-converter (powershift) and hydrostatic trucks have no friction clutch and use different driveline parts, so tell us your transmission type first. ForkliftIQ sources clutch discs, pressure plates and release bearings factory-direct from verified suppliers, with coverage spanning Heli, Hangcha, EP, Toyota, UN Forklift and other common fleets.

We dropship worldwide on FOB or CIF terms. For exact disc dimensions, kit contents and pricing, request a quote — we confirm fitment against your disc size, spline and engine or transmission model before shipping, rather than publishing specs we can't guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in a forklift clutch kit?

A typical kit includes the clutch (friction) disc, the pressure plate (clutch cover) and the release or throw-out bearing. Many kits also add a pilot bearing and an alignment tool. Confirm the exact contents on your quote, since some suppliers sell the disc and cover separately.

How do I identify the right clutch disc for my forklift?

Match the disc outer diameter and spline count to your unit, then confirm the engine and transmission model. Note whether the hub is sprung (damper springs) or solid. Send us your forklift brand, model and serial/VIN plate photo, or an OEM number, and we'll cross-reference the correct fitment.

Do clutch kits fit torque-converter or hydrostatic forklifts?

No. Clutch kits apply only to manual or mechanical-transmission IC trucks. Torque-converter (powershift) and hydrostatic forklifts have no friction clutch, so they use different driveline parts. Tell us your transmission type and we'll confirm before quoting.

Is there a minimum order quantity (MOQ) for clutch kits?

MOQ varies by part and whether you need a single replacement kit or distributor volume. Send your model list in a quote request and we'll confirm available quantities, kit contents and pricing.
