A forklift hydraulic control valve is the multi-spool directional valve bank that receives flow from the hydraulic pump and routes it to the lift, tilt and auxiliary cylinders as the operator moves each lever or switch. It also houses the main relief valve that caps system pressure. ForkliftIQ supplies replacement control valves compatible with Heli, Hangcha, EP, Toyota and other major brands.
Replacement forklift hydraulic control valves — 2, 3 and 4-spool directional banks for lift, tilt and aux — compatible with Heli, Hangcha, EP, Toyota, UN Forklift and most major fleets. ForkliftIQ ships manual-lever and solenoid valve banks factory-direct from verified suppliers, with cross-reference support and a fast parts quote.
What the main control valve does
The main hydraulic control valve, sometimes called the directional or multi-way valve, sits between the pump and the working cylinders. Each spool inside the body corresponds to one function: lifting the mast, tilting it forward or back, and driving any auxiliary circuit such as a side-shift or clamp. Moving a lever shifts a spool, which opens a flow path to the correct cylinder port and returns the other side to tank. When all spools are centered, oil recirculates back to tank at low pressure.
Integrated into the valve body is the main relief valve. It sets the maximum system pressure so the pump, hoses and cylinders are protected when the mast reaches full height or a load exceeds capacity. Many banks also carry tilt lock or flow-regulator elements to keep lowering and tilt speeds controlled. This is different from the individual control solenoid valves — those are single electro-hydraulic cartridges that switch or proportion one circuit, whereas the main control valve is the whole multi-spool assembly.
Configurations: spool count & actuation
Control valves are specified first by spool count. A 2-spool bank handles lift and tilt on a basic truck; a 3-spool adds one auxiliary function; a 4-spool (or larger) supports two auxiliaries such as side-shift plus fork positioner or a clamp. The function order along the bank, port sizes and rated flow all have to match the truck so the levers line up with the right movements.
Actuation is the second axis. Manual-lever valves are shifted directly by mechanical linkage or cable and are common on standard IC and electric counterbalance trucks. Solenoid or electro-hydraulic valves use coils — often proportional — driven by fingertip electric controls or the truck controller, and are typical on newer electric and reach trucks. Confirm whether your truck uses lever, cable or electric fingertip controls before ordering.
Signs of control valve trouble
Common symptoms include weak or no lift, a mast that drifts down under load, jerky or chattering movement, and functions that respond slowly or not at all. A relief valve set too low bleeds pressure and starves the lift; set too high it risks over-pressurizing the system. External oil leaks around the spool seals or joints are another frequent failure. Because worn pumps and cylinders can mimic these symptoms, diagnose against a pressure gauge and the OEM spec before replacing the valve.
- Weak or no lift on the mast
- Load drifts down when held
- Jerky, chattering spool action
- Slow or dead auxiliary function
- Relief pressure set wrong
- External leak at spool seals
How to identify the right valve
Start with the OEM part number stamped or tagged on the valve body, or listed in your service manual. If that is missing, we match by spool count, the function order along the bank, the rated flow and port sizes, plus your forklift brand, model and serial (or VIN) plate. A photo of the installed valve showing the spools and linkage helps confirm actuation type. We cross-reference across major OEM units, so a valve built for one truck can often be matched to an equivalent compatible part.
Compatibility & sourcing
ForkliftIQ sources control valves factory-direct from verified suppliers, including a parts partner carrying 85,000+ SKUs across electric and IC forklift platforms. Coverage spans Heli, Hangcha, EP, Toyota, UN Forklift, Xilin and other common fleets. We list parts as compatible with named brands; they are aftermarket replacements, not OEM-branded unless stated, and relief settings are configured to the truck spec rather than published as certified figures.
We dropship worldwide on FOB or CIF terms. For exact spool configuration, port sizes, flow rating and pricing, request a quote — we confirm fitment before shipping rather than publishing specs we cannot guarantee.
| Spec | Detail | Match on |

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I identify the right forklift control valve?
Match by spool count (2, 3 or 4), the function order (lift, tilt, aux) and the port/flow rating, then confirm against your forklift brand, model and serial/VIN plate. Send us the OEM number stamped on the valve body or a photo and we'll cross-reference a compatible fitment.
What is the difference between a main control valve and a control solenoid valve?
The main hydraulic control valve is the multi-spool bank that directs pump flow to the lift, tilt and auxiliary circuits and houses the main relief. A control solenoid valve is a single electro-hydraulic cartridge or coil that switches or proportions flow to one function. See our control-solenoid-valves page for individual solenoids.
Can you supply manual-lever and solenoid (electro-hydraulic) valve banks?
Yes. We supply manual-lever directional valve banks and solenoid / electro-hydraulic versions with proportional control, matched to your spool count and truck. Tell us whether your truck uses cable, lever or fingertip electric controls and we'll confirm the correct configuration.
Is there a minimum order quantity (MOQ) for control valves?
MOQ varies by part and whether you need a one-off replacement, a rebuild kit or distributor volume. Send your spool count, truck make-model and part list in a quote request and we'll confirm available quantities, lead time and pricing.
