Forklift Encoders
Speed & position feedback sensors for AC motors
An encoder mounts on an AC motor and reports speed and position to the controller. A failing encoder causes erratic travel, jerky operation or motor/encoder fault codes — and is far cheaper to replace than the motor. ForkliftIQ supplies encoders compatible with Heli, Hangcha, EP, Toyota, Linde, Jungheinrich, Hyster, Crown and other major brands.

Encoder fault symptoms
Stuttering travel, sudden power cut-outs, or controller codes referencing "encoder" or "speed sensor" usually mean a failed encoder, a loose connector or a damaged cable — check the connector first, then replace the encoder before condemning the motor.
Parts grade — OEM, aftermarket & economy
| Grade | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| OEM / Genuine | Original manufacturer part number | Warranty & critical components |
| Branded Aftermarket | Reputable replacement brands (Curtis, EVE, etc.) | Best value + reliability |
| Economy / OE-equivalent | Cost-optimized equivalent | Budget & wear items |
Grades are indicative; we confirm the exact match against your part number or nameplate photo.
Selection guide — what to check before ordering
To match the correct part the first time, have these details ready (or send a photo and we cross-reference):
- Pulses per revolution (PPR) and signal type
- Connector type and pin-out
- Mounting on traction or pump motor
- Motor brand and model
- Cable length

Compatibility & cross-reference
We cross-reference forklift motor encoders and speed sensors by OEM part number, voltage and forklift model. Send your brand, model, serial number and the number stamped on the old part (or a photo) and we confirm the correct replacement before quoting. A full OEM ↔ aftermarket cross-reference table is being added to each part page.
| Send us | Why |
|---|---|
| Brand + model + serial | Narrows to the exact spec for your truck |
| OEM part number / nameplate photo | Direct cross-reference to replacement |
| Voltage & capacity (where relevant) | Confirms electrical match |

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my forklift encoder is bad?
Erratic or jerky travel and encoder/speed fault codes. Check the connector and cable, then test or replace the encoder.
Is an encoder cheaper than a motor?
Yes — far cheaper, and it fixes many "bad motor" symptoms.
How do I match an encoder?
Send the motor brand/model and the encoder part number or photo.
Where is the encoder located?
Mounted on the non-drive end of the AC traction or pump motor.
Need this part fast?
Send the brand, part number or a nameplate photo — we cross-reference and quote from a worldwide parts network.
