Record bundle mass, length, width, centre of gravity and supporting points. Show the storage arrangement, pickup, deck support and required height. Measure the complete travel corridor, doors, overhead obstacles and turns.

Request the responsible supplier’s review of lateral pickup and deck-supported movement. Keep capacity conditions with that review. This page provides procurement questions, not operating instructions.

Documents to request

Ask for the complete model and option codes, a dated model-specific data sheet, dimensions, the configuration-specific load chart, engine and fuel data, load-handling approval, tyre specification, operator and maintenance manuals, scheduled service requirements and the applicable destination-market conformity records. The contracting party should identify who commissions the truck, provides training, supports diagnostics, supplies parts and carries warranty responsibility.

How to compare an alternative

Build one comparison sheet and hold the operating case constant. Use the same load, load centre, lift height, attachment, aisle or route, gradients, floor, temperature, shifts and energy-supply plan for every candidate. Ask suppliers to show where each quoted value comes from and whether it is standard, optional, calculated, tested or dependent on a market package.

Separate truck price from the operating system around it. Include fuel and site work, engine-maintenance assumptions, tyres, scheduled service, diagnostic access, software or telematics fees, training, commissioning, freight, spare parts and expected downtime support. A lower equipment price can produce a higher operational cost when these boundaries are omitted.

Commercial and delivery boundary

Record the legal seller, Incoterm, delivery location, included options, excluded installation work, document language, acceptance method, warranty start, response time and responsible service entity. Require written change control when the supplier substitutes a mast, battery, charger, tyre, controller or software package after the technical review.

Parts and service identity

The family name is not sufficient for a parts match. Preserve the data plate, full model, serial number, mast and deck details, engine, controller and display labels, old component number, connectors, ports, mounting points and dimensions. Ask the source of every proposed replacement: catalogue record, drawing, supersession notice or written manufacturer confirmation.

A reference is not a complete production code

The manufacturer uses FDS as the technical-table heading. ForkliftIQ preserves that wording and rated-load class rather than inventing a more precise factory code. Ask the quoting company for the production version, plate information and controlled documents behind its offer.

Keep document revisions with the quotation. Identify which dimensions and component options are standard and which are project-specific. A page covering several load classes does not establish that each class shares a chassis, mast or operating limits.

Plan the complete long-load path

Draw the goods from pickup to final placement, including overhang, supporting points, crossing traffic and receiving arrangements. Review the complete load envelope rather than the vehicle width alone. The goods can require more space than the machine.

Ask the supplier to review load distribution and movement between pickup and deck-supported travel. Obtain the applicable instructions and capacity basis. A headline tonnage does not substitute for a task-specific review.

Specify the deck and lifting system together

Identify supporting surfaces, restraints, fork spacing and the lifting interface. State whether timber, bundled metal, pipe or another load is handled. Explain how goods are prepared and received. One restraint arrangement should not be assumed suitable for every material.

Record mast, carriage, guides, cylinders and hydraulic identities for service. Ask which catalogue or drawing specifies a replacement. Visually similar components can differ in mounting, pressure, travel or load limits.

Infrastructure and ownership responsibilities

Have the responsible site team assess the route, surface, gradients and operating space. Obtain the exact powertrain schedule and maintenance requirements. Compare each supplier’s configuration against the same load and duty description.

Identify commissioning, inspections, training, spare parts and recovery responsibilities in the contract. Marketing statements do not independently prove stock, compliance, field reliability or a delivery date.
