Most likely causes
Worn orbitrol — Internal wear in the steering unit makes steering heavy or sloppy.
Leaking steering cylinder — Worn cylinder seals lose pressure and cause heavy/loose steering.
Low steering pressure — A weak pump or relief setting reduces steering assist.
